Who We Are

WSA comprises a community of educators from local school districts and around the United States who seek to employ best practices to create paths of access to high academic outcomes in an equitable manner.

Williams Scholar Academy's model combines academic development with embedded supports where needed, character competence on a continual basis, and connectedness to the community.

OUR SCHOOL

The mission of Williams Scholar Academy (WSA) is to foster college-ready graduates by providing a learning community where all scholars, regardless of learning style, limits, or abilities are empowered to become innovative thinkers through their learning experiences, which engages them in the interconnectedness of the academic disciplines with cultural, character, and social responsibility.

The vision of WSA is to provide the opportunity for 6th-12th grade scholars to achieve post-secondary success and become leaders in their communities, Louisiana, and beyond. We envision a future in which our scholars graduate from Williams Scholar Academy and matriculate into colleges and universities of their choice and, empowered by education, choose their own paths in life.

What We Do

Williams Scholar Academy extends learning beyond the classroom...

  • into homes by creating partnerships with parents
  • into the community by exposing and involving students in local efforts
  • into college and other post-secondary studies by connecting students to college level professionals
  • into life by helping students to discover their individual greatness and their capacity to be their best

Why We Do

There are students who ...

  • need greater support to achieve accelerated growth towards Mastery levels and beyond on Louisiana's LEAP2025
  • need greater support to obtain qualifying ACT and other college entry metrics upon graduation from high school
  • can benefit from direction in navigating and understanding the social constructs of our society
  • are able to earn college credit before graduating from high school but lack supports to do it
